With the shocking announcement of the postponement of the 2019 elections, many Nigerians and celebrities have taken to social media to air their frustrations.
Many woke up this morning prepared to execute their civic duties only to find out the elections had been postponed till next week, February 23.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu attributed the postponement of all the scheduled elections to logistic and operational problems.

@inecnigeria under Prof. Mahmood Yakubu is obviously acting a script prepared by the Presidency cabal but Nigerians will defeat them all together.— Peter Ayodele Fayose (@GovAyoFayose) February 16, 2019
Well 23rd is next Saturday, we will still go OUT TO VOTE with more enthusiasm and passion, we can’t be stopped!— Rita Dominic (@ritaUdominic) February 16, 2019
Would it have killed the person who drafted that @inecnigeria letter to add "The Commission understands that this decision has been announced rather late and sincerely apologizes to all voters and election stakeholders for any inconvenience caused" at the end?— Amara Nwankpa (@Nwankpa_A) February 16, 2019
We shall not relent in our resolve for better governance, we shall not be easily distracted. We must vote next week guys, vote out incompetence, out future is no joke!!!! 23td it is then— Toke Makinwa (@tokstarr) February 16, 2019
While we are all frustrated, please spare a thought for people who are most affected by the postponement… like our corpers who had to spend the night in terrible sleeping conditions, people who had weddings or other milestone occasions planned, etc. May God help us all.— Banky Wellington (@BankyW) February 16, 2019
@inecnigeria This is definitely the highest level of irresponsibility. You had 4 years to prepare for this election, STILL, in the dead of the night you make a decision like this.— AG (@adekunleGOLD) February 16, 2019
You don’t wait till hours before the polls – when millions of people were committed to it by traveling and making plans around – when you could have done same weeks and months before. I have exams on the 23rd for starters. Some probably have weddings. Flights. This is a MESS!— JJ. Omojuwa (@Omojuwa) February 16, 2019

INEC: We're ready for this
INEC: We're ready
INEC: We're ready
INEC: Trust us, we're ok
INEC: Wait! We're not ready! Sorry 😭😭
All people that postponed weddings and stuff, I feel bad for them— Bizzle Osikoya (@bizzleosikoya) February 16, 2019
There is no excuse for this rubbish . They just keep finding new ways to disgrace this country . I’m so annoyed .— Gbemi O-O (@GbemiOO) February 16, 2019
Inec had 4 years plus a budget of 186billion— Osikhena Dirisu (@Osi_Suave) February 16, 2019
Its ridiculous to say the least that you are postponing an election a few hours before it is scheduled to start
We need to do better.
“Nigeria” doesn’t exist…maybe only on paper ( contracts & map ) but there is no country, no unity, no singular vision, no pride, nothing . Just schemes on schemes on schemes.— leriQ (@OfficialLeriQ) February 16, 2019
INEC has confirmed that it has postponed the elections meant to hold today. This is deeply disappointing. We should not be preparing for elections as if we had 4 days to prepare for it, instead of FOUR YEARS! pic.twitter.com/mhZMjkR4o7— Dr. Joe Abah (@DrJoeAbah) February 16, 2019
Corpers on the group chat are running mad. Some of them were allegedly attacked at epe last night with bottles, they had to sleep on the ground and in classroom lockers. No INEC official even came to address them. No security. Nothing. I hate hate Nigeria.— chioma jesus. (@anxta_) February 16, 2019
This goes deeper than a postponed election. It's a symptom of a disgraceful, shambolic, rotten and ineffective system of governance and accountability.— Yele Bademosi (@YeleBademosi) February 16, 2019
Personally, I have a renewed sense of purpose — it's on our generation to fix our country and build the future we deserve.
Failed govt. INEC is already biased and working for @APCNigeria bcos they know that @OfficialPDPNig is already cruising to victory. Most people traveled with little money just to voted and return back on Sunday. Now this is what we get. Tell me if they will be wilin to vote again— Stan (@stanleyy2k7) February 16, 2019
I'm highly disappointed, i travelled 400km just to cast vote and now u r telling me u are not ready. What have you guys been doing all this time?!— Engineer (@brema1) February 16, 2019
This is the most wicked and barbaric evil action against the Nigerian people.— Bose Tinubu (@BoseTinubu) February 16, 2019
Budget was spent
International observers arrived Nigeria
People left their business and travelled so as to vote!!
Youth corpers slept in the cold etc

OFFICIAL: Nigeria is now a failed state where nothing seems to work. It's quite unfortunate that INEC is never ready for any election in Nigeria and for them to wait till few hours to election before postponing the exercise is quite disheartening. https://t.co/oWBLdDx7I4— Kay (@Kayode714) February 16, 2019
