Not Too Young To Run: President Buhari Signs Bill Into Law
President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the “Not too young to run” bill into law promising that his Administration will continue to do everything in its power to make Nigeria work for youths.
The President who signed the bill on Wednesday at State House Abuja before a select group of youths described the bill as a landmark piece of legislation that was conceived, championed and accomplished by young Nigerians.
By virtue of the new law eligible age for aspirants for members of the State Houses of Assembly will be reduced from 30 to 25 years.
In the same vein, the age of eligibility for aspirants for members of the Federal House of Representatives has been reduced from 36 t0 35 years.
Meanwhile the eligible age for aspirants for Office of the President, has been lowered from 40 to 35 years.
The President however noted that the the age limits for Senators and Governors was not reduced, as originally proposed by the sponsors
of the Bill.
