The 2024 CAF Awards final shortlist has been unveiled, with Nigerian stars Ademola Lookman and Stanley Nwabali making commendable entries.
Lookman, who plays for Atalanta, has been acknowledged for his outstanding contributions on the pitch, securing a spot among the nominees for the African Player of the Year.
Stanley Nwabali, Chippa United’s goalkeeper, has been nominated for the African Goalkeeper of the Year, a testament to his remarkable form between the posts.
However, Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong, who initially featured on the 10-man shortlist, has missed out on the final five, marking a disappointing turn for the seasoned Super Eagles player.
This year’s awards, set to take place on December 16, 2024, in Marrakech, Morocco, celebrate African football’s finest across several categories, including Player of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, and Young Player of the Year.
Other standout nominees include Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi and South Africa’s Ronwen Williams. Winners will be determined through votes by CAF’s technical committee, media professionals, and team officials, ensuring diverse representation in the selection process.
