Celebrated filmmaker, Femi Odugbemi has gotten an appointment to serve on the International Engagement Committee of the Academy.
With a focus on key areas such as the membership process, governance, and impact program, the committee is responsible for shaping the Academy’s global engagement strategy.
Odugbemi is expected to collaborate with a diverse group of international professionals to help guide the Academy’s mission of global inclusivity and influence in the film industry, during the one-year appointment, which elapses on June 30, 2025.
Another assignment expected from the committee will be to meet virtually three times over the next year, in mid-October, February, and April, to accommodate members across various time zones.
While reacting to this development, Odugbemi said, “I am honored to join the Academy’s International Engagement Committee and excited to contribute to its efforts in promoting global representation and strengthening international connections within the film industry,”
“I look forward to working alongside fellow committee members to drive meaningful engagement worldwide,” he added.
In as much as the committee members have a task to carry out, they are also expected to adhere to the Academy’s Standards of Conduct, coupled with unconscious bias training.
All committee discussions are kept confidential, ensuring a secure and constructive environment for deliberation.
