Nigerian songstress Omawumi is clearing the air and clapping back after Afro-dancehall star Timaya reignited old studio rumors involving her, Waje, and Grammy-winning Burna Boy.
What Timaya painted as a fiery creative fallout has now been firmly debunked by one of its supposed witnesses.
According to Timaya’s viral claim, during a throwback studio session in Lekki Phase 1, Burna Boy had prophesied that he would one day fly private jets—and when Omawumi and Waje allegedly laughed it off, Burna responded by kicking them both out of the room in anger.
“Burna talk say, ‘I go dey fly private jets soon’—dem no believe am, dem dey laugh. Him vex, open door say make dem comot,” Timaya recounted, praising Burna Boy’s boldness.
Omawumi: “Abeg, That Never Happened!”
Omawumi, who has spent nearly two decades building a respected name in Nigerian music, didn’t let the story slide. In a July 2025 radio interview with Naija FM, she firmly called the claim fiction.
“That thing no happen. We’ve been friends for years—why involve me in a lie?” she asked, visibly irritated by the resurfaced narrative.
The singer explained that the only time she, Waje, and Timaya were in a studio together was around 2010. She left early and said there was no drama, no disrespect, and no Burna Boy tantrum. Omawumi insisted Burna has always treated her with nothing but respect.
