Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command following an alleged violent assault on government officials.
The incident reportedly occurred on February 5, 2025, around 10:00 a.m., when officials from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA) were attacked during an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu, Sango-Ota.
Incident Details
The assaulted officials—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—were conducting their lawful duties when they were confronted by Portable and his associates. The officials sustained injuries but managed to escape and reported the assault to the Ota Area Command, which subsequently escalated the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Legal Actions and Arrest Warrants
In response to the incident, the Ogun State Police Command issued multiple formal invitations to Portable, requesting his appearance at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta. After his repeated failure to comply, the police obtained a valid court order declaring him wanted. The command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, emphasized that anyone found aiding or harboring the suspect would face legal consequences.
Arraignment of Associates
On February 6, 2025, nine individuals associated with Portable were arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Isabo, Abeokuta. The defendants—Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe (25), Samuel Adeleke (28), Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20), Gospel Kanu (20), Precious Ohiegebo (19), Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27), and Fatimo Muhammed (26)—faced charges including felony, assault, obstruction, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Portable’s Response
Following the issuance of the arrest warrant, Portable released a series of videos on his Instagram page, denying the allegations and claiming he was being unjustly targeted. He alleged that OGPDPA officials had sealed his unfinished building and hotel in Sango-Ota, arrested over 20 of his workers, and confiscated beverages from his bar. In his videos, Portable pleaded with the state government to release his associates and challenged the authorities to provide evidence of the alleged assault.
Government’s Stance
The Ogun State Government has condemned Portable’s actions, warning against the assault of its officials. The government emphasized that such behavior would not be tolerated and that legal actions would be pursued to ensure the protection of its personnel.
As of now, Portable remains at large, and the Ogun State Police Command has urged the public to provide any information that could lead to his arrest. The situation continues to develop, with authorities committed to upholding the law and ensuring justice is served.
