Portable Sentenced To Three Months In Prison For Assault

Controversial Nigerian street-hop artist, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been sentenced to three months in prison by a Chief Magistrate Court in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State. The sentencing follows his conviction on two counts of assault and theft.

The court, however, provided an option for Portable to pay a fine of ₦30,000 in place of serving the jail term.

The charges stemmed from an incident in February 2025, when Portable allegedly assaulted officials from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA) who were attempting to seal his bar due to lack of approved permits. The altercation led to injuries sustained by the officials.

Following the incident, Portable was declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command. He later surrendered to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba and was subsequently handed over to the Ogun State Police.

In court, Portable pleaded not guilty to the charges. His counsel argued for bail, which was granted at ₦2 million with one surety in like sum.

Portable’s sentencing marks a significant moment in his career, highlighting the legal consequences of his actions. The artist, known for his hit “Zazoo Zehh,” has been involved in multiple controversies since his rise to fame.
