Portable Surrenders To Lagos Police

After days of evasion and controversy, Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has finally surrendered to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba.

This move comes after the Ogun State Police Command declared him wanted for allegedly assaulting government officials during a routine enforcement operation.

The Incident That Sparked the Chase

On February 5, 2025, Portable and his associates were accused of attacking officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu, Ota. The officials, who were on duty, reportedly suffered injuries in the confrontation, prompting the police to launch an investigation and issue a warrant for his arrest.

Social Media Drama and Final Surrender

As authorities intensified their search, Portable took to social media, claiming he was undergoing medical treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta. However, the Ogun State Police dismissed his claims, insisting he was deliberately avoiding arrest.

On February 19, 2025, after more than a week on the run, Portable voluntarily turned himself in at SCID Yaba. Confirming the development, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated:
“Portable just turned himself in at the SCID Yaba. We have contacted Ogun State Police Command to come pick him up.”

What’s Next for Portable?

Now in police custody, Portable is expected to be transferred to Ogun State, where he will face further investigation and possible charges related to the alleged assault.

This latest incident adds to the singer’s long history of controversies, further cementing his reputation as one of Nigeria’s most unpredictable music figures.
