Controversial Nigerian singer Portable, also known as Habeeb Okikiola, has found himself in a heated standoff with the Ogun State government, following the attempted shutdown of his Odogwu Bar and Restaurant.
The confrontation began when officials from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA) tried to seal off his business premises, citing zoning violations and a lack of proper permits.
Portable, however, claims the move was unjust, revealing that over 20 individuals, including his associates and customers, were arrested during the operation. His frustration spilled onto social media, where he accused the government of targeting him unfairly. “I am from Ogun State, but nobody values me or appreciates what I do,” he lamented.
The Ogun State government, through its Commissioner for Physical Planning, Olatunji Odunlami, has dismissed Portable’s allegations as baseless, insisting that due process was followed in their actions. Meanwhile, nine of Portable’s associates have been arraigned on charges of assaulting government officials and obstruction of duty.
As the case unfolds, Portable has called on fans for support, while the government stands firm on its stance. The outcome of this legal battle remains uncertain, leaving the fate of his establishment hanging in the balance.
