Popular Lagos socialite and night club owner, Mike Nwalie, better known as Pretty Mike, has been granted bail following his arraignment before a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, over alleged drug-related offences.
Pretty Mike, who manages the Proxy Lagos Night Club, appeared in court alongside the club’s supervisor, Joachim Hillary, after being charged by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, possession, and allowing the use of the club premises for illegal drug activities.
The charges, dated October 30, 2025, stemmed from an alleged incident that occurred on October 26, 2025, at the nightclub located in Victoria Island, Lagos. According to the NDLEA, the defendants conspired to organise a drug party on the club premises, during which operatives reportedly recovered various illicit substances.
According to the NDLEA, their operation led to the discovery of 200 grams of Cannabis Sativa and 177 cylinders of Nitrous Oxide, also known as laughing gas, weighing over 364 kilograms.
The charges claim that Hillary was found in possession of cannabis, while Nwalie, as the club owner, permitted the use of the venue for a drug party. Both men pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution sought a trial date, while defence counsel, Dr B.S. Awosika (SAN), applied for bail, arguing that the defendants had no criminal history and should be granted bail on lenient terms.
Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa ruled that the defendants were presumed innocent until proven guilty and that the prosecution had not given enough reason to deny bail. He therefore granted each defendant bail of ₦50 million, with two responsible sureties in the same amount, who must provide an affidavit of means.
The judge ordered that the defendants remain in the custody of their counsel until the bail conditions are met. The case was adjourned to 14 January 2026 for the start of the trial.
