R&B singer, R. Kelly has been arrested in Chicago on Federal sex trafficking charges.
According to TMZ, the 52-year old music star was arrested on Thursday, July 11, 2019, in Chicago on charges contained in a 13-count indictment returned in the Northern District of Illinois.
Joseph Fitzpatrick, spokesperson for The U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Northern District, says the indictment includes charges of child porn and obstruction of justice, TMZ reports.
The Grammy winner, whose real name is Robert Kelly, was arrested in February on 10 counts in Illinois involving four women, three of whom were minors when the alleged abuse occurred. He pleaded not guilty to those charges and was released on bail.
Then on May 30, Cook County prosecutors added 11 more sex-related counts to the charges involving one of the women who accused him of sexually abusing her when she was underage.
Until Thursday’s arrest, R Kelly was free on a $1 million bond set in February. The New York Police Department, Homeland Security Investigation and other federal partners assisted in the arrest.
R Kelly’s attorney, Steve Greenberg, confirmed that the singer was arrested but declined further comments.
