R. Kelly faced off with celebrity attorney Michael Avenatti in a Chicago courtroom today, over two sex tapes allegedly showing the singer having sex with underage teens.
Kelly is apparently challenging the authenticity of these tapes, which led to 10 felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, over claims he is running a sex cult, brainwashing women and holding them against their will.
R. Kelly’s lawyers claim Michael Avenatti may have used his influence to “bully” state prosecutor, Kim Foxx.
Kim is already dealing with the nightmare she caused when her office dismissed 16 counts of disorderly conduct against Jussie Smollett.
There’s currently an investigation into Kim Foxx’s decision which has stoked racial tensions in the city, including a protest last night, where 12 people were arrested.
R. Kelly’s lawyers say Kim Foxx is easily “influenced” and “wowed” based on her decision to let Jussie walk.
The singer’s lawyers are also suggesting the brash Michael Avenatti, who is facing a legal problems of his own, may have bullied Kim Foxx into bringing the felonious charges against R. Kelly.
