R. Kelly is still battling criminal sexual abuse charges but that will not prevent him from performing on stage in the near future.
The “Ignition (Remix) singer’s attorney, Raed Shalabi, spoke to The Blast insisting that R. Kelly is feeling “positive” about his ongoing legal trouble and believes he will get a fair trial in the court system.
Shalabi also acknowledged the embattled R&B artist is not on an “even playing field” as far as the court of public opinion. In addition, he asserted R. Kelly was gearing up for a return to the stage.
“Mr. Kelly loves music. I believe he’s planning several shows that are coming up. Nothing’s been booked as of yet, but that’s his goal. I believe he wants to be back on stage and he wants to continue to make music. He’s actually making music now. I think he’s going to be releasing something soon,” stated Shalabi.
2016’s “12 Nights of Christmas” is the most recent R. Kelly studio album. Since the premiere of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly docuseries in January, the #MuteRKelly movement gained more backing which led to decreasing radio airplay for the 52-year-old Chicagoan and the Grammy winner being dropped by RCA Records.
