“Red, White & Royal Wedding” Sequel to Hit Rom-Com

The royal love story that captivated millions is getting a second chapter.

Amazon MGM Studios has officially green-lit the sequel to its 2023 breakout romantic comedy, Red, White & Royal Blue, confirming the return of its fan-favourite leads — Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Henry and Taylor Zakhar Perez as Alex Claremont-Diaz.

The new film, aptly titled “Red, White & Royal Wedding,” will continue the story of love, politics, and monarchy that made the first movie a global streaming sensation.

The sequel will see a change behind the camera, with Jamie Babbit (But I’m a Cheerleader) taking over directing duties from Matthew López. Babbit’s involvement signals a fresh creative touch for the follow-up, while López will remain part of the writing team.

The screenplay will be co-written by López, Casey McQuiston — the original novel’s author — and Gemma Burgess, who co-wrote Emily in Paris.

Both Galitzine and Perez are confirmed to reprise their roles, while the return of other key cast members, including Uma Thurman, Sarah Shahi, and Stephen Fry, remains under wraps.

Amazon is keeping story details tightly sealed, but the title “Red, White & Royal Wedding” strongly hints that the long-awaited royal wedding between Henry and Alex could take centre stage.

While no release date has been announced, production is expected to begin in 2026. Fans can anticipate more of the charm, chemistry, and emotional depth that made the original a standout success.

Released on Prime Video in August 2023, Red, White & Royal Blue became one of Amazon’s most-streamed romantic comedies, earning praise for its vibrant storytelling and authentic LGBTQ+ representation. The film also received an Emmy nomination and solidified both leads as breakout stars.

This sequel, Amazon says, aims to “continue the celebration of love, courage, and authenticity” — values that resonated deeply with audiences worldwide.

“We wanted to give fans a sequel that honours the first film while taking Henry and Alex’s story to new emotional heights,” said an Amazon Studios spokesperson.

The announcement sparked excitement across social media, with fans flooding X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok with the hashtag #RedWhiteAndRoyalWedding. Many expressed joy at seeing queer love stories given the same grand, cinematic treatment as traditional rom-coms.

As one fan wrote, “From the White House to Windsor Castle — love wins again!”

With “Red, White & Royal Wedding,” Amazon MGM Studios isn’t just delivering another rom-com — it’s cementing a cultural moment where royal romance meets real-world representation.
