Veteran Nigerian rapper, Reminisce, recently shared his candid thoughts on the competitive nature of the music industry.
In a recent interview, he opened up about the harsh realities of the business, noting that personal relationships often take a back seat to career advancement.
Reminisce emphasized that while artists may appear friendly or supportive in public, the truth is, in such a highly competitive environment, everyone is primarily focused on their own success. According to him, it’s a tough industry where personal friendships can easily dissolve if they interfere with professional ambitions.
He advised upcoming artists to remain focused on their goals and not to rely too heavily on friendships within the industry. Instead, he stressed the importance of building a solid support system outside of the music world, where genuine relationships are more likely to thrive.
In his words, “The music industry is a business, and like any business, it’s every man for himself. No one will put your career above their own interests.”
