Pop star, Rihanna has been christened as “The World’s Richest Female Musician” by Forbes.
The esteemed business magazine revealed the 31-year-old R&B/Pop icon from Barbados has an estimated fortune of $600 million. That puts Rihanna’s net worth ahead of Madonna ($570 million), Céline Dion ($450 million), and Beyoncé ($400 million).
While RiRi became a global superstar because of #1 hits such as “Umbrella,” “Rude Boy,” “We Found Love,” and “Work,” it’s her reported 15% ownership in Fenty Beauty cosmetics that plays the biggest part in the entertainer being $400 million away from billionaire status. Fenty Beauty is worth approximately $3 billion.
In an interview with the New York Times last month, Rihanna said money was not her main motivation. She said, “Money is happening along the way, but I’m working out of what I love to do, what I’m passionate about.
“Work will change when my life changes in the future but an amount of money is not going to stop that.”
Rihanna also co-owns the Savage X Fenty lingerie line. Additionally, the 9-time Grammy winner recently announced a new fashion brand with LVMH, the company that owns around 50% of Fenty Beauty. She said, “My fashion will be different and non-traditional because I do not come from this industry.”
Earlier this week Forbes named rapper Jay-Z as the first hip-hop star to become a billionaire, crediting his wealth to his music career and varied business interests in fashion, alcohol and the ride hailing app Uber.
