A solemn mood hangs over the Silverbird family as Chief Operating Officer, Bola Salako, mourns the passing of his father, Babatunde Adesola Salako, who died at the age of 91.
Late Engineer Salako’s life journey was marked by quiet strength, professional distinction, and an unwavering commitment to faith. He built a remarkable career with the Nigerian Railway Corporation, where he rose through the ranks to retire as Director of Signals and Telecommunications—leaving behind a legacy etched in decades of dedicated public service.
Beyond his professional achievements, he was revered within his family and community as a man of deep spirituality and principle. Those closest to him recall a life guided by humility, compassion, and a steadfast belief in prayer. In a heartfelt reflection, Bola Salako described his father as a moral compass whose values shaped not only his upbringing but also the lives of many who encountered him.
Arrangements have been outlined to celebrate his enduring legacy. An evening of worship is slated for April 16, 2026, at the Chapel of Christ the Light, with the funeral service scheduled for the following day at the same venue. He will be laid to rest at Ikoyi Cemetery, after which a reception will be held in his honour.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and a wide network of loved ones who continue to celebrate a life defined by purpose and impact.
In his passing, family and friends are not only grieving a beloved patriarch but also bidding farewell to a generation shaped by discipline, service, and enduring faith.
