Skales Criticises Nigeria Police For Multiple Checkpoints On Lagos Roads

Nigerian singer, Raoul John Njeng-Njeng well known as Skales has publicly criticised the Nigerian Police Force over the increasing number of checkpoints on Lagos roads, particularly on Orchid Road in Lekki.

On social media, Skales questioned the need for multiple police checkpoints within such a short distance, expressing frustration over what he perceives as an excessive show of force that inconveniences the public.

The artist highlighted that while police checkpoints are meant for safety, their frequency has instead led to delays and frustration among road users, with many questioning the real purpose behind the extensive checks.

Skales’ comments reflect growing concerns among Lagos residents about police practices on local roads, where routine stops sometimes devolve into lengthy delays. He urged the police authorities to consider the impact on residents and ensure that officers adhere to their duty of protecting citizens without overburdening them with excessive stops.

The Nigerian police have faced recurring criticisms over road checkpoints, with many citizens alleging harassment and extortion during routine stops. Skales’ vocal stance is the latest in a series of public grievances over these issues, which advocates hope will lead to reform and more balanced policing across Lagos.
