The reigning Silverbird’s World of Records (SWORD) holder, Lilian Madubulum, recently emerged from a post-event recovery mode after setting an impressive record with her 55-hour and 49-minute dance marathon at the Silverbird Galleria.
In an Instagram Live session on Tuesday, November 12, Lilian recounted her experience before and after achieving the milestone. She shared that her daily routine begins with prayer, meditation, and affirmations, followed by breakfast and a morning walk—a grounding ritual that fueled her determination throughout the intense marathon.
Though she didn’t have a specific dance style, she mentioned that she kept the crowd entertained with a mix of moves like the Azonto, despite occasionally falling out of step.
Lilian was candid about her aversion to energy drinks like Vodka, and Hennessy. Instead, she sustained herself on light foods such as fruits, cucumbers, and water to maintain energy and hydration during the event. As the dance marathon wore on, she strategically built up her breaks, dancing in five-hour blocks to make the most of the permitted five-minute rest intervals each hour.
When asked about future editions of SWORD, Lilian expressed her wish for Funke Akindele to participate, sharing her admiration for the actress’s love of dance. Reflecting on her achievement, she highlighted the friendships and support she gained along the way, expressing deep gratitude to Silverbird for the prize money that arrived “at the right time.”
As her timer approached 55 hours, Lilian admitted she was exhausted but determined to exceed her limit—a testament to the resilience and dedication she brought to the SWORD Dance Marathon.
