With just three days left to the 20th edition of the prestigious Silverbird Group Man of the Year Awards, anticipation is building across Nigeria as prominent leaders, innovators and change‑makers prepare to take centre stage at one of the nation’s most respected recognition platforms.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 1 March 2026, at Hotels and Suites in Lagos.
Instituted in 2005 to honour individuals whose contributions have significantly shaped society, Silverbird Man of the Year has become a benchmark for excellence in governance, business, entertainment, and public service. In previous editions, the award has recognised distinguished Nigerians, including past political leaders and industry giants — such as governors, captains of industry and cultural icons — who have demonstrated outstanding impact and service.
The announcement of the 2025 winner, Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State, has already generated widespread interest and excitement. Otu was formally presented with a congratulatory letter by the Chief Creative Officer of Silverbird Group, Mr. Jacob Akinyemi Johnson, in recognition of his visionary leadership and transformative governance since assuming office. The formal ceremony in Lagos will mark his official investiture as the latest recipient of the distinguished award.
As the countdown reaches three days to go, distinguished guests, stakeholders from government, private sector leaders, members of civil society and media executives are expected to converge in Lagos to celebrate excellence, network and honour Nigeria’s leading figures who continue to set benchmarks in their various fields.
