Man Utd Sign Edinson Cavani On Free Transfer
Manchester United have signed former Paris St-Germain striker Edinson Cavani on a busy transfer deadline day for the Red Devils on Monday.
The 33-year-old Uruguay international, who left PSG at the end of June, has signed a one-year contract.
Cavani has scored 341 goals in 556 club matches, including a record 200 in 301 appearances for the French giants. He also has 50 goals in 116 Uruguay games.
He could even make his debut against his former club as United open their Champions League campaign away to PSG on October 20.
United also signed Brazilian international left-back Alex Telles from Porto for £13.5 million ($19 million, 15 million euros), Uruguayan teenager Facundo Pellistri and agreed a deal with Atalanta for the future transfer of 18-year-old winger Amad Diallo.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s side are 16th in the table, having picked up only three points from their opening three league matches.
The Red Devils were under the spotlight after a humiliating 6-1 home defeat to Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday after making just one signing all window before Monday in Dutch international midfielder Donny van de Beek.
Cavani will bring experience to a talented young frontline formed by Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.
