Nigeria’s D’Tigers Beat Argentina In Exhibition Game
Nigeria men’s basketball team, D’Tigers have pulled off another upset as they beat Argentina in an exhibition game ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
The Nigerian squad, which have eight NBA players, overpowered the world number four with a massive 23 points win, outscoring them 94-71 on Monday night.
The win comes few days after the Mike Brown team defeated world number one, USA 90-87 in their first friendly outing in the States.
Argentina took the first quarter 19-17 but at half-time D’Tigers led 43-33. And in the third quarter, D’Tigers were ahead by 74 points to Argentina’s 55 before wrapping up victory in the final quarter.
Detroit Piston’s big man Jahlil Okafor led Nigeria with 15 points, while Josh Okogie and Chimezie Metu had 10 each.
Nigeria limited Argentina to 35.9 percent shooting from the floor while hitting 48.1 percent of its shots.
Their two victories will send a warning message to their Group B opponents which include the likes of Australia, Germany and Italy at the Tokyo Olympic Games starting from July 23 to August 8.
