Super Eagles Drop Two Places In New FIFA Ranking

Nigeria’s Super Eagles suffered a drop in the FIFA World Ranking and are now ranked 34th.

The latest FIFA world ranking which was released on Thursday, August 12, 2021 and published on the football body’s official website saw the Super Eagles drop two places.

Nigeria had been in 32nd position in the last two rankings (April and May) but have dropped to 34 in the latest ranking.

In Africa, following their slide, Nigeria also fell from third to fifth and are behind Senegal who are now ranked 21st in the world after climbing three spots, followed by Tunisia who now occupy 28th on the global ranking, down two spots from their previous ranking.

Algeria climbed 12 places to 30th in the world and third in Africa, while Morocco climbed nine spots and are now 32nd in the world and fourth in Africa.

In Africa the top ten countries are Senegal (1), Tunisia (2), Algeria (3), Morocco (4), Nigeria (5), Egypt (6), Ghana (7), Cameroon (8), Cote d’Ivoire (9), and Mali (10).

Belgium remain the top ranked team in the world followed by Brazil, France, England, and Euro 2020 winners Italy, respectively.

In sixth place are Argentina, while the seventh spot is occupied by Spain. Portugal, Mexico and USA are eight, ninth and tenth respectively.

The next FIFA Men’s World Ranking will be published on 16 September 2021.
