Tokyo Olympics: Team Nigeria At The Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics took place on Friday, July 23, 2021 at the 68,000-capacity National Stadium in Tokyo.

There was a show of colour, music, and a strong message of unity in diversity, peace, and solidarity at the stadium. The ceremony started with a song, dance, and homage to Japanese carpenters, then the usual Parade of Nations.

Team Nigeria were present at the ceremony as they paraded in a simple yet stylish green and white outfits.

Led by the flag bearer Odunayo Adekuoroye and captain Aruna Quadri, Team Nigeria athletes waved their flags as they paraded the ceremony.

Competing in its 17th Olympics, Nigeria has a total of 60 athletes taking part in 10 sports including athletics, basketball, badminton, canoe, gymnastics, table tennis, swimming, rowing, wrestling and taekwondo.
