Nigerian music star, Inetimi Timaya Odon well known as Timaya dismissed comparisons between himself and veteran rapper Eedris Abdulkareem, asserting that their personalities and industry approaches are fundamentally different.
Timaya during a recent interview on Naija FM in Lagos, criticized Abdulkareem’s outspoken nature, describing it as excessive and detrimental to his respect within the music scene.
According to Timaya, Abdulkareem’s confrontational style neither commands fear nor admiration from peers, unlike his own self-reliant and reserved demeanor.
This response adds to a long-standing history of tension between the two artists. Years ago, Abdulkareem accused Timaya of ingratitude, claiming he had played a significant role in shaping the early stages of Timaya’s career.
Timaya, however, has consistently maintained that his success is a result of his efforts and distinct trajectory, separate from Abdulkareem’s influence.
The interview has reignited discussions in the Nigerian entertainment community about the complex dynamics of mentorship, rivalry, and respect among artists in the industry
