Nigerian music star, Inetimi Alfred Odom also known as Timaya has expressed his admiration for fellow artist Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, also known as Portable, noting that he likes him because of his wild and unconventional personality, which reminds him of his own early career.
In a recent interview, Timaya explained how Portable’s energy and carefree nature reflect the same kind of rebellious attitude he once had when he was starting out in the industry.
Timaya acknowledged Portable’s hit song “Zazu Zeh” and described the artist as being “crazy” in a way that resonates with his own past experiences.
He added that Portable’s unapologetic approach to life and music reminds him of his own fearless younger days.
According to Timaya, this shared “craziness” is the reason he feels a connection with Portable and why he is fond of the controversial artist.
The veteran singer’s comments highlight how he sees a bit of himself in the younger generation of musicians like Portable, who challenge norms and bring unique energy to the Nigerian music scene.
Timaya is known for combining Nigerian pop with elements of dancehall, hip-hop, and soca, as well as Afro-Caribbean/Dancehall music.
