Nigeria’s Chukwuebuka Enekwechi has advanced to the final in the Shot Put at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, on Tuesday.
Enekwechi earned a throw of 21.16 meters to finish seventh overall and fourth in Group B. He earned one of 12 qualifying marks in the 31-competitor field, thanks to his mark on his second attempt.
Born and raised in America, Enekwechi chose to represent Nigeria and is the 2018 Commonwealth Games Silver medalist and reigning African Champion in the Shot Put.
He is also the 2019 African Games Champion and the reigning Nigerian National Sports Festival Champion.
This is his first Olympics and will get the opportunity to fight for a medal during the final which holds on August 5th.
