Twitch Launches Film Career with ‘Call of My Life’

Nollywood is set for a fresh romantic offering as celebrated music video director Dammy Twitch steps into feature filmmaking with Call of My Life, a vibrant new romantic comedy led by Uzoamaka Power and Zubby Michael.

Produced by Bluhouse Studios, the film also stars Andrew Bunting, alongside Nollywood veterans Nkem Owoh and Patience Ozokwo, with appearances from Beverly Osu, Broda Shaggi and others.

A Love Story Born from Heartbreak

At the centre of the story is Soluchi (Uzoamaka Power), a call-centre agent nursing emotional wounds from a past relationship with Kalu (Zubby Michael). Though still hopeful about love, she struggles with the lingering pain of abandonment.

Her predictable routine takes an unexpected turn when she connects with Eli (Andrew Bunting) during a customer service call. What begins as a professional exchange slowly blossoms into something more intimate, forcing Soluchi to confront the fears that have kept her guarded. The film explores vulnerability, healing, and the courage it takes to love again — themes that resonate deeply in today’s world of complicated relationships.

From Music Videos to the Big Screen

Born Apampa Oluwadamilola Owolabi, Dammy Twitch built his name directing visually striking music videos for Nigerian superstars including Davido and Burna Boy. Known for his flair for colour, mood, and storytelling through music visuals, Twitch now channels that creative energy into long-form cinema.

Speaking about his transition, the director described romance as a natural choice for his first feature. According to him, love has shaped much of his personal journey, and he wanted his cinematic debut to reflect that emotional foundation.

Music, Emotion and a Softer Storytelling Tone

Adding another layer to the narrative are live performances from Johnny Drille and Cobhams Asuquo, whose soulful sounds enrich the film’s emotional texture.

The screenplay, written by Uzoamaka Power herself, was shot across Lagos, Abuja, and Enugu, giving the project a contemporary Nigerian backdrop. Producer Blessing Uzzi says the film represents Bluhouse Studios’ desire to tell softer, hopeful stories at a time when many audiences feel disillusioned about romance.

For Power, balancing writing and acting meant fully inhabiting Soluchi’s emotional arc — particularly the delicate tension between fear and renewed hope.

Release Plans

Call of My Life is slated for a nationwide cinema release later this year. With its mix of romance, introspection, humour, and star power, the film positions itself as a heartfelt addition to Nollywood’s evolving rom-com landscape — and a bold first chapter in Dammy Twitch’s feature filmmaking journey.
