Former sprinter and Olympic champion, Usain Bolt scored a brace on his first start for the Central Coast Mariners in a pre-season friendly against Macarthur South West United.

Bolt’s first goal came with a well struck effort at the near post while his second came with a close range tap in after capitalizing on a defensive error. In celebrating his goals he pulled out his famous “lightning Bolt” pose.

Bolt expressed his delight at his headline-grabbing debut, saying: “My first start and scoring two goals, it’s a good feeling.

“I’m happy I could come here and show the world I’m improving. I’m keen to be a Mariner, to play my best and get into the team.”

Bolt has taken steps into professional football after hanging up his running shoes, having won eight Olympic gold medals during his sprinting career.

He hopes to win a permanent contract with the Mariners, and his two goals on Friday will have done nothing to harm his chances.
