TurnTable Charts’ latest Industry Digest has confirmed Wizkid’s sweeping dominance of Nigeria’s music scene in the first half of 2025, affirming his reputation as one of Afrobeats’ most enduring stars.
The Grammy-winning singer topped all platforms, powered largely by the sustained success of his sixth studio album, Morayo, released in late 2024. The project racked up 235 million streams between January and June 2025, making it one of the year’s standout records.
Wizkid’s single “Kese”, also from Morayo, emerged as the most played song on Nigerian radio during this period, dominating airwaves across the country.
In addition to his solo hits, Wizkid expanded his influence through high-profile collaborations, including Ayra Starr’s “Gimme Dat,” Olamide’s self-titled album, and DJ Tunez’s “One Condition” featuring breakout artist Fola. These strategic features kept his sound in heavy rotation across both streaming platforms and radio playlists.
Other Heavyweights on the Charts
While Wizkid led the pack, other Nigerian artists made remarkable strides:
Seyi Vibez claimed the title of Nigeria’s most-streamed artist overall, pulling in 297 million streams thanks to his Children of Africa EP and singles like Shaolin and Pressure.
Davido’s album 5ive was the second-most-streamed project with 173 million streams, while his track “Funds” (featuring Odumodublvck and Chike) ranked among the top songs. He also led in radio impressions, recording an impressive 6.77 billion plays.
Industry analysts note that Wizkid’s performance is a testament to his strategic release schedule and ability to stay relevant in a competitive market. Morayo’s longevity on the charts, coupled with his collaborations, allowed him to capture multiple audiences — from streaming listeners to radio fans.
The Road Ahead
With Seyi Vibez and Davido closing the gap, the race for the second half of 2025 is expected to be one of the fiercest in recent years. For now, however, TurnTable Charts’ data leaves little doubt: Wizkid sits atop Nigeria’s music throne, showing no signs of slowing down.
