Wumi Toriola Settles For Peace After Clash With Afeez Owo

The Nollywood spotlight has once again burned bright with controversy — but this time, it’s ending on a softer note.

Actress Wumi Toriola, known for her bold screen presence and unfiltered personality, has shifted from confrontation to conciliation after a heated exchange with actor-producer Afeez Owo.

The saga began on the African A-List podcast, where Owo — husband to actress Mide Martins — drew a sharp comparison between his wife’s calm demeanor and Toriola’s fiery nature. According to him, “violence is [Wumi’s] comfort zone,” while Martins remains unshaken even when offended.

That comment lit a fuse. Toriola clapped back in a since-deleted Instagram video, blasting Owo’s remarks as “rubbish” and questioning why Nollywood disagreements keep becoming podcast fodder. “Am I a mad woman? If people don’t offend me, will I be angry?” she fired.

But the drama didn’t end there. Instead, it spiraled into a wave of online backlash, with fans claiming her reaction proved Owo’s point. The emotional toll hit hard — so much so that Toriola revealed she had landed in the hospital, quipping: “Internet dragging and ICU are siblings.”

Then came the twist. In a surprising U-turn, Wumi resurfaced with a calmer tone, posting a video from inside a plane with the caption: “The face of a repentant child. It is still all love. Thank you all for the backlash. Omo ta ba fe lan bawi.”

The gesture was widely read as an olive branch — a peace offering not just to Owo, but also to her fans, who had been divided over the spat.

Interestingly, this isn’t their first brush. Back in 2023, Toriola called out a glaring wig-switch blooper in Owo’s movie Ija. The veteran and his wife publicly apologized, calling it an “expensive mistake” in post-production.

From online dragging to hospital beds to mid-air repentance, Wumi’s latest move has transformed Nollywood drama into a story of humility, healing, and second chances.
