‘You Can Buy Looks, But Not Intelligence’, Says Mary Remmy Njoku

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mary Remmy Njoku has ignited a thought-provoking conversation on modern beauty standards, arguing that physical attractiveness is no longer exclusive, as it can now be easily acquired.

In a recent Instagram post, Njoku encouraged women to shift their focus from chasing cosmetic perfection to developing their intellect and personal skills. “Anyone with money can alter their looks. What will truly make you stand out is your mind,” she stated.

She also addressed the increasing popularity of cosmetic enhancements, such as Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBLs), cautioning that while beauty can be bought, intelligence and substance cannot. “You can buy a new body, but you can’t buy a new brain,” she remarked.

Njoku’s comments have sparked widespread debate, with some applauding her call for self-improvement, while others argue that enhanced beauty still holds significant advantages in today’s society.

Regardless, her message serves as a challenge to the prevailing narrative that physical appearance alone defines success and worth.
