Nedu Demands ₦500 Million From VeryDarkMan Over Defamation Allegations

The war of words between popular media personality Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, aka Nedu Wazobia, and social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has taken a legal turn.

Nedu has officially served VDM a pre-action notice, demanding ₦500 million in damages for alleged defamation over claims that he diverted scholarship funds meant for Nigerian students.

The controversy stems from a 12-minute video posted by VDM on February 19, 2025, titled “How Nedu Diverted NGO Scholarship Meant for Nigerians.” In the video, VDM accused Nedu of mishandling funds linked to the Nedu Foundation, a program aimed at supporting students seeking admission into the Metropolitan School of Business and Management UK (MSBM). However, Nedu’s legal team has vehemently denied the allegations, calling them “false, defamatory, and damaging.” They insist that Nedu neither received nor misappropriated any funds and that he was merely affiliated with the initiative as a brand talent.

Now, Nedu’s lawyers are demanding that VDM:

Remove all defamatory content from his platforms within 24 hours.

Issue a public apology across all his channels.

Pay ₦500 million in damages for tarnishing Nedu’s reputation.

VDM, however, appears unfazed by the lawsuit. In a video response on Instagram, he acknowledged receiving the legal notice, telling his followers, “Nedu’s lawyers have served me o, so make una get ready for court case.”

As the case unfolds, this legal showdown underscores the growing influence of social media commentators and the potential consequences of making allegations in the digital space. With both parties refusing to back down, all eyes are now on what could be one of the most talked-about legal battles in Nigeria’s entertainment scene.
