A young Nigerian author, now based in the UK, Nathan Eze is back with his second book, Ruby, Don’t Be Naughty!, launching on March 6, 2025, in celebration of World Book Day.
At just ten years old, Nathan Eze is proving that age is no limit to storytelling greatness.
Following the success of his debut, Ruby, Don’t Lie!, which captured young readers’ hearts in 2024, Nathan continues to carve his path as a rising literary star.
Nathan’s passion for writing ignited at the age of eight when he attended a creative writing class at Jordan Hill Creative Writing & Reading Workshop, a premier children’s literary organization in Nigeria. With a spark of ambition and a dream to “be famous,” he embarked on a journey to bring his imaginative stories to life.
A voracious reader himself, Nathan draws inspiration from Francesca Simon’s Horrid Henry series, renowned for its humor and relatable childhood antics. His own character, Ruby, embodies the everyday experiences of children—playful, sometimes mischievous, but always learning valuable life lessons. “She is like every other child who sometimes lies or is naughty. I wanted children to see that even if they misbehave, they can still change, or they will have to face the consequences,” Nathan explains.
Behind every great young writer is a strong support system. Nathan’s parents play a pivotal role in nurturing his talent. His father, Chukwuemeka Eze, champions his son’s creative pursuits, while his mother, Adeola Eze, an advocate for children’s literacy and young writers, beams with pride at Nathan’s achievements.
Ruby, Don’t Be Naughty! takes young readers on another delightful adventure, filled with humor, life lessons, and engaging storytelling. This new release features expanded content, captivating illustrations, and an interactive “Ruby Creative Playground” section designed to make reading even more immersive and fun for children.
Nathan’s journey is an inspiring reminder that talent knows no age. With two books under his belt before his teenage years, he is well on his way to leaving a lasting mark in children’s literature. And as he hints at future installments in the Ruby series, young readers can expect even more laughter, adventures, and wisdom from this budding author.
