Nigerian rapper and singer, Zlatan Ibile, has openly criticized the growing trend of online begging and trolling, highlighting the paradox of individuals who simultaneously seek financial assistance and engage in negative commentary on social media.
He expressed concern about individuals who spend extensive hours online, hopping from one celebrity’s page to another, primarily in pursuit of giveaways. Zlatan questioned the authenticity of such engagements and emphasized his preference to support hardworking individuals over random monetary distributions.
This isn’t the first time Zlatan has addressed unsolicited requests. In a past incident, while distributing money to child beggars on the streets of Lagos, a teenage hawker attempted to receive cash from him. Zlatan declined, advising the young man to “go and hustle,” underscoring his belief in the value of hard work over handouts.
Furthermore, Zlatan has been on the receiving end of online trolling. Following his role in the movie “Gangs of Lagos,” a Twitter user mocked his speech pattern, particularly his pronunciation of the ‘r’ sound. In response, Zlatan expressed his displeasure, highlighting the challenges celebrities face with online criticism.
Zlatan’s recent comments shed light on the complexities of online interactions, emphasizing the need for genuine engagement and the importance of hard work over reliance on celebrity giveaways.
