Nigerian comedian and actor, Seyi Law, has drawn a bold line in the political sand—declaring he will never back Labour Party’s Peter Obi, no matter what the future holds.
The reason? According to the entertainer, it’s not political—it’s personal.
Speaking during a candid appearance on The Teju Babyface Show, Seyi Law didn’t mince words: “There is no forgiveness.” His tone wasn’t theatrical—it was resolute. The comic claimed that Peter Obi’s passionate supporter base, famously known as the Obidient movement, crossed the line with what he described as “vicious online abuse” during and after Nigeria’s 2023 elections.
Seyi Law had openly supported President Bola Tinubu during the heated 2023 presidential race. But while political preferences are common in Nigeria’s entertainment scene, the backlash he received from Obi’s supporters, he says, was anything but normal. From personal insults to cyberbullying, the experience left a bitter taste.
Even after offering public apologies for any offense caused by his political stance, Seyi insists that the verbal onslaught was too deep to ignore—and certainly too much to forgive.
“I will never support Peter Obi. Not because he’s not competent, but because of his followers. They made it personal,” Seyi said.
His refusal to “turn the other cheek” reflects a larger truth about Nigeria’s modern political climate: where supporters can become soldiers, and public figures often find themselves caught in the crossfire of digital warfare.
