Nigerian music star Davido has added another global milestone to his career after being selected for induction into the 2026 class of the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.
The recognition places the Afrobeats heavyweight alongside legendary Afrobeat icon Fela Kuti, whose revolutionary impact on African music and Black culture had previously earned him a place on the prestigious platform.
Davido joins a high-profile list of honourees for the 2026 class, including American rapper Ludacris, gospel leader Paul S. Morton, and former Atlanta mayor Maynard Jackson. The induction ceremony is expected to hold on June 1 in Atlanta’s Historic Westside district.
Created by the Black American Music Association in collaboration with the Georgia Entertainment Caucus, the Walk of Fame honours Black entertainers and cultural figures whose contributions have shaped music, entertainment, and global culture.
Since its launch in 2021, the landmark attraction has celebrated some of the world’s most influential Black artists, including Beyoncé, Usher, Stevie Wonder, and Mary J. Blige.
For Davido, the honour marks another defining moment in a career that has helped push Afrobeats onto the global stage. From sold-out international tours to chart-dominating collaborations and Grammy-nominated projects, the singer has remained one of the leading faces of contemporary African music. His acclaimed album Timeless further cemented his worldwide appeal and commercial success.
The recognition is also being viewed as another major win for Nigerian music, reinforcing the growing cultural influence of Afrobeats and the increasing global recognition of African artists.
