Former Big Brother Naija star Adekunle Olapade is challenging the wave of criticism trailing the current BBNaija “10/10” season, following a series of viral intimate video clips that have set social media ablaze.
Speaking in a recent interview, Adekunle dismissed the backlash as hypocritical, pointing out that the show has always been rated 18+ and caters exclusively to adults. “People forget it’s a reality show for consenting adults,” he said, noting that natural attraction is inevitable in an environment where contestants live under the same roof, cut off from the outside world.
Drawing from his own experience inside Big Brother’s house, Adekunle revealed that nudity is a routine part of daily life on the show. “Housemates see each other naked almost every day,” he explained, adding that the close quarters make it almost impossible to avoid exposure.
The ex-housemate referenced trending clips featuring Koyin and Isabella, as well as Jason Jae and Sultana, which have fueled heated online debates about morality and boundaries on reality TV. Yet, Adekunle argued that many of the loudest critics engage in similar behaviors privately but are quick to condemn others when it’s on camera.
He urged viewers to put the situation in perspective: BBNaija is entertainment, and part of its appeal lies in showing unscripted, real-life dynamics among adults. “People need to remember—it’s a reality show, not a Sunday school,” he quipped, calling for more balanced conversations about intimacy on screen.
By reframing the controversy, Adekunle has reignited a larger discussion about cultural values, voyeurism, and the blurred lines between entertainment and personal ethics.
