Bobrisky: EFCC Re-arrests Renowned Crossdresser In Lagos

Nigerian cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye well as Bobrisky, has been re-arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at Lagos Airport.

Bobrisky who is known for his social media presence, faced apprehension due to alleged violations related to naira abuse, including the suspected illegal defacement and distribution of currency notes, Daily Trust reports.

On the reason for his arrest, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale emphasized that Bobrisky’s cross-dressing identity or personal lifestyle is not part of the charges, focusing solely on currency mutilation, an economic offense under Nigerian law.

This incident follows a series of controversies surrounding Bobrisky, including a recent EFCC questioning earlier this year.

Additionally, Bobrisky’s re-arrest comes amid heightened scrutiny from Nigerian authorities, with past calls for his detainment over claims related to other social issues.

Despite this, no legal action has linked his lifestyle directly to his detainment, as Nigerian laws do not criminalize cross-dressing itself.

These ongoing legal confrontations highlight the intersection of public figure scrutiny and enforcement of economic regulations in Nigeria
