Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha have been unveiled as hosts for the 12th edition of the AMVCA, replacing longtime anchor IK Osakioduwa, who has fronted the prestigious ceremony since its inception in 2013.
For over a decade, Osakioduwa’s charisma and commanding presence became synonymous with the awards, guiding audiences through unforgettable moments and cementing his legacy as one of the show’s most enduring figures. His exit marks the close of an 11-year run that helped shape the identity of the AMVCA.
Set to hold at the iconic Eko Hotels and Suites, the upcoming edition signals a strategic shift toward a broader, pan-African appeal. Bovi is expected to deliver his signature humour and stagecraft, while Mbatha brings international recognition and a strong cultural voice that resonates across the continent.
The transition reflects a deliberate evolution by organisers to refresh the show’s format while preserving its core mission, celebrating excellence in African film and television. With a new hosting dynamic in place, the AMVCA is poised to usher in a vibrant era, even as it bids farewell to one of its most familiar faces.
