The current Silverbird’s World of Records champion, Lilian Madubulum, recently shared her thoughts on her historic win during an interview at Rhythm 93.7 FM, Lagos, on Monday, November 11, 2024.
Madubulum, who surpassed 24 other contestants, set a new benchmark with an incredible 55 hours and 49 minutes on the dance floor, securing her place in the record books.
Reflecting on the experience, the 27-year-old described the victory as a major confidence boost, especially when she realized she was the last contestant standing.
“When I became the last man standing, I thought, ‘It is finished!’ That was a confidence booster for me,” she said. “When I saw the remaining contestants—about four or five men—I told myself, ‘I can do this. I’m here for me, here for the prize, and to showcase myself. That’s all that matters.’”
Madubulum also recalled how other participants doubted her stamina and commitment. “A lot of them would ask, ‘Are you sure you’re here as a contestant?’ They didn’t think I’d last,” she shared with a laugh.
Her inspiring determination and grit not only led her to victory but have also set a new standard for future contenders in the Silverbird’s World of Records dance marathon challenge.
