Miss Universe Argentina Loses Crown After Claiming Pageant Is Fixed

In a dramatic turn of events, Magalí Benejam, the 30-year-old beauty queen from Córdoba, Argentina, who held the title of Miss Universe Argentina 2024, has been dethroned following her explosive allegations against the Miss Universe Organization.

During a live YouTube interview with content creator King Lucho, Benejam boldly claimed that the pageant’s outcomes are prearranged, stating, “It was always fixed, every year.”

Benejam, who secured a spot in the Top 12 at the 2024 Miss Universe pageant, recounted observing dubious interactions among the judges during the announcement of the Top 5 finalists. She alleged that the judges exchanged looks suggesting the selections were not theirs.

Furthermore, she insinuated that the eventual winner, Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark, was privy to her victory in advance, noting that Theilvig was accompanied by multiple security guards in the final days leading up to the competition. Benejam claimed that some individuals informed her the results were decided 10 days prior to the event.

In addition to her critiques of the pageant’s integrity, Benejam did not hold back in expressing her opinions about fellow contestants. She accused Miss Puerto Rico, Jennifer Colón, of being unfriendly and went as far as to describe her evening gown as the worst of the night. Benejam mentioned that Colón ceased communication with her in the days leading up to the final.

In response to these incendiary remarks, the Miss Universe Organization swiftly revoked Benejam’s title on January 2, 2025. In their official statement, they emphasized their unwavering commitment to principles such as diversity, inclusion, and respect for all individuals.

They stated that representatives must uphold the highest standards of personal and professional conduct, and that this action was taken to protect the integrity of the organization and the opportunities it provides to women around the world.

As of January 9, 2025, Benejam has not removed the title “Miss Universe Argentina 2024” from her Instagram bio, indicating a potential challenge to the organization’s decision.

This incident has sparked a broader conversation about the transparency and fairness of beauty pageants, with many calling for increased scrutiny and reforms within the industry.

The Miss Universe Organization has faced similar controversies in the past, including allegations of predetermined outcomes and lack of inclusivity. In response, the organization has reiterated its dedication to upholding the values of diversity and integrity in all its endeavors.

The unfolding of these events continues to captivate audiences worldwide, shedding light on the complexities and challenges inherent in the world of beauty pageants.
