Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, is finally speaking out following his acquittal in the tragic death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka MohBad.
After months of public scrutiny and legal battles, on February 25, 2025, the Lagos Magistrate Court in Yaba dismissed all allegations against Naira Marley, music promoter Sam Larry, and singer Prime Boy, bringing a legal chapter to an end—but not the emotional toll.
The Marlian Music boss, who had been at the center of swirling accusations, took to social media to express both relief and disappointment. Sharing a Quranic verse on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “And whoever puts all his trust in Allah, He will be enough for him.” He followed up with another post: “They planned, but Allah also planned. And Allah is the best of planners.”
However, beyond religious reflection, Naira Marley also addressed the damage done to his name. He reposted a fan’s message that captured the ordeal he faced, emphasizing how he was vilified in the court of public opinion long before the legal system reached its verdict. The message read: “Could any of us carry the weight Naira bore? The world turned its back, his name dragged through the mud, yet he walked into the storm—head high, heart steady—returning home to face the justice system alone.”
MohBad’s sudden death in September 2023 had sent shockwaves through the Nigerian music industry, igniting outrage and conspiracy theories that painted Marley and his associates as suspects. The legal proceedings subjected him to intense scrutiny, with many calling for his prosecution before evidence had been properly examined. Now cleared of all wrongdoing, he remains steadfast in his claim of innocence.
While Naira Marley and his associates are officially exonerated, the court has now shifted its focus to two other individuals: auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe, who reportedly treated MohBad before his death, and the late singer’s friend, Ayobami Sodiq. Charges against them are expected to be filed soon.
For Naira Marley, the verdict marks the end of a legal storm—but the battle to rebuild his reputation in the public eye is just beginning.
