R. Kelly Gets Extra 20-year Jail Term For Child Porn Crimes

American singer R. Kelly, has gotten an additional 20-year jail term for child sex crimes.

The R&B artist was given a 20-year prison sentence on Thursday by a US judge for child pornography and other offences, but he will spend the majority of it concurrently with a prior sentence.

Kelly is already serving a 30-year sentence for racketeering and sex trafficking after being found guilty by a Brooklyn jury in a previous federal trial.

According to the Chicago judge’s decision, all but one year of the new sentence will be served concurrently with the old one. His lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean, is appealing both of Kelly’s federal convictions.

R. Kelly was acquitted of a charge that he had attempted to impede an earlier investigation into his abuse of the goddaughter, and two other counts of enticing minors to have sex.

Federal prosecutors had argued that the 56-year-old deserved 25 years imprisonment in addition to his earlier sentence, citing the singer’s “lack of remorse” as a reason he would pose a danger to society if released.
