Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen continues his incredible scoring streak in Turkey as he matches the all-time goal record of Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk — reaching the feat in just 50 appearances.
Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen has once again made headlines after scoring his 43rd goal for the Turkish champions during their 3–1 win over Göztepe at the weekend — equalling the long-standing record set by club legend and current manager Okan Buruk.
Osimhen’s goal came in the 13th minute when he capitalised on a defensive error to draw his side level. The Super Eagles star’s instinctive finish not only helped Galatasaray recover from an early setback but also marked a historic personal milestone.
According to Legit.ng, Buruk netted 43 goals for Galatasaray during his playing days — a tally Osimhen has now matched in just 50 matches, compared to Buruk’s 306 career appearances for the club.
The 26-year-old striker, who joined Galatasaray on a €75 million deal, has been in sensational form since his move to Istanbul. By May 2025, he had already scored 33 goals across all competitions, surpassing the club’s modern-era single-season scoring record, Africa Top Sports reports.
This latest achievement cements Osimhen’s reputation as one of Europe’s most prolific forwards, with a goal-per-game ratio that few can match. His consistency has been a key factor in Galatasaray’s push for both domestic dominance and continental success.
Speaking after the match, Osimhen was quick to downplay individual praise, crediting his teammates and coach for their collective effort.“First, I want to congratulate the team. We were truly incredible mentally… We want to keep improving,” he said.
He also showed respect to his manager, whose record he just matched: “He absolutely deserves it. He’s not only a great coach but also a great person. I’m incredibly happy with all his achievements.”
Buruk’s record had stood for years as a symbol of Galatasaray’s rich football heritage. For Osimhen to reach it in such a short time is a testament to his impact and efficiency since joining the Turkish giants.
Analysts say Osimhen’s form underlines why Galatasaray invested heavily to secure his services permanently. His performances have also sparked renewed interest from top European clubs, but for now, the Nigerian forward remains focused on breaking new records in Turkey.
With Buruk’s milestone now equalled, all eyes are on Osimhen to see how far he can go this season.
Will he surpass the record and establish himself as Galatasaray’s most lethal striker in modern history?
Can he lead the club to another Super Lig title and make a deeper Champions League run?
Whatever the outcome, Victor Osimhen’s goal-scoring exploits have already secured his name among Galatasaray’s greats — and his journey is only just beginning
